Argentinean landings of hake in the first half of 2009 totalled 186 467 tonnes, which represents an 11% fall compared with the same period in 2008. [cont.]

Shrimp, US
November 2009
The US economy is starting to show some signs that the downturn may be slowing, but these positive signs have not yet changed consumers’ perceptions. Shrimp, Asia
September 2009
The cherry blossom season in Spring initiated outdoor eating and business improved in the catering trade during April-May. Shrimp, US
January 2010
The Department of Commerce published the final results of the third administrative review of the antidumping duties on shrimp. While this report was positive for shrimp exporters from India, Ecuador, Viet Nam and China, Thailand was given higher duties. [cont.]

Nile Perch
August 2009
Nile perch resources are under stress and production is going down. The three producing countries report lower exports of fillets to the EU, the main market for this product. [cont]

Tuna, Thailand
August 2009
Starting in mid May 2009 tuna prices in all major catching areas began to rise because of fears that upcoming tuna fishing bans in these areas will squeeze global supply for the canning industry. [cont].

Tuna, Japan
September 2009
In Japan, the cherry blossom period coincides with the beginning of the holistic and fiscal year. Welcoming parties are often opened with hanami or flower viewing. Demand for sashimi tuna usually peaks throughout Japan during this time. [cont].
