INFOYU was established by the Government of China with assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN. It is based in Beijing with two Branches in Guangdong and Shanghai. Besides the two branches, INFOYU has developed a comprehensive network linked to 130 fish wholesale markets nationwide and receives fish price reports from 60 of them twice a week. INFOYU has become the leading source of marketing support for producers and exporters in China which is the largest fish producing country in the world. It's services include bringing buyers and sellers together, publication of current and long term marketing information and operation of trade advisory services. In addition, INFOYU organizes conferences, workshops, seminars, training programmes and undertakes consultancies on all aspects of fisheries - fishing, aquaculture, processing and marketing.

The monthly 20 page, bilingual bulletin is available by airmail. It features current news, indicative prices, short term trends in Chinese markets for commodities such as live, fresh, frozen, dried/salted, canned fish and fishery products.
